Written by on 29th January 2014

Quartet Clean Bandit have gone straight to the top of the UK singles chart with Rather Be, featuring Jess Glynne.

The group knocked Pharrell Williams’s Happy off the top spot while Pitbull’s Timber, featuring Kesha, fell from two to five.

The rest of the top five was made up of new entries, with the Vamps’ Wild Heart at number three and Neon Jungle’s Braveheart at four.

On the album chart, Ellie Goulding reclaimed top spot with Halcyon.

She took the position from Bruce Springsteen, whose High Hopes ended her two-week run at number one last Sunday.

Springsteen’s latest album now stands in second place.

Beyonce’s self-titled album remained at number three, while Sophie Ellis Bextor’s Wanderlust was the highest new entry at four.

Avicii’s True climbed one spot to fifth position.

Back on the singles chart, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis – who are nominated for seven Grammy awards – climbed 26 places to number 27 with their track, White Walls.

Featuring US rapper Schoolboy Q, it is the fourth top 30 single from their album The Heist.

OneRepublic jumped 33 places to 32 with If I Lose Myself, and Miley Cyrus climbed 15 places to number 33 with her latest single, Adore You.
